Mainframe DevOps Engineer
Job Description:
As a Mainframe DevOps Engineer, you will be responsible for assisting in the migration of Mainframe applications to a git-based SCM while applying DevOps principles and practices to streamline the software development and deployment processes.
As a Mainframe DevOps Engineer, you will have the opportunity to grow your skills and contribute to the modernization and automation of Mainframe migration processes. 
Key Responsibilities:
Mainframe application migration Support:
- Collaborate with senior engineers to understand and support existing Mainframe application migration to git-based SCM.
 - Troubleshoot migration issues to ensure clean application migration.
 
Version Control and Configuration Management:
- Learn and use version control tools (e.g., Git) to manage code changes efficiently.
 - Learn concepts and basics of mainframe-based SCM 
 - Document the migration steps and different activities.
 
Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment (CI/CD):
- Contribute to the development of CI/CD pipelines for Mainframe applications.
 - Proficient in orchestration tools like Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Gitlab etc.
 - Automate build, test, and deployment processes to accelerate software delivery.
 
Scripting and Automation:
- Develop and maintain scripts (e.g., Shell, Python, Groovy etc.) to automate Mainframe migration tasks.
 - Improve and optimize automation scripts.
 
Collaboration and Communication:
- Collaborate with internal as well as client teams, including developers, testers, and system administrators, to facilitate smooth migration and pipeline implementation.
 - Communicate effectively within the team and share knowledge to foster a collaborative environment.
 
Documentation:
- Document processes, procedures, and configurations as part of client deliverables as well as to ensure knowledge sharing and maintaining knowledge base.
 
Learning and Skill Development:
- Stay up-to-date with Mainframe technologies, DevOps practices, and industry trends.
 - Participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance your skills.
 
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
 - 3-5 years experience in Mainframe technology and DevOps practices.
 - Proficient with version control systems like Git.
 - Knowledge of scripting languages (e.g., JAVA, Python).
 - Good problem-solving and analytical skills.
 - Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
 - Eagerness to learn and adapt to new technologies and methodologies.
